TOMS PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) June 30, 2011 --

Amid all of the reports from the fashion and clothing industry that I read yesterday one of the discoveries struck me was the viral video "Toms Shoes Get Out and Play!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kzvxRiU5ac&fmt=18 done by the fan base of one company in particular. Toms Shoes, A Santa Monica, California based Shoe Company, Toms has inspired a new generation of supporters recently. The company owner Mycoskie, after his visit to Argentina in 2006, Mycoskie decided to get involved in shoe giving. Considering sustainability, he concluded that starting a business rather than a charity would help his impact last longer. In his speech at the Second Annual Clinton Global Initiative, Mycoskie recalled that children without shoes were not only susceptible to health risks, but were not allowed to go to school. When asked "why shoes?" Mycoskie's main reason is a disease called podoconiosis, a debilitating and disfiguring disease. Also known as "Mossy Foot", Podoconiosis is a form of elephantiasis that affects the lymphatic system of the lower legs. It is a soil-transmitted disease caused by walking in silica-rich soil. This causes one's feet to swell along with many other health implications. Shoes are the most basic solution to many of these health risks. According to the TOMS Shoes website, there are over one billion people at risk for soil-transmitted diseases around the world, and shoes can help prevent them. Mycoskie emphasizes that his company's goal is to not only give shoes, but to also educate others on the importance of wearing shoes

A NEW viral video is quickly rising throughout the ranks on YouTube. That video, Directed by Max Joseph, Produced by Urgent Content, Choreography by Katrina Amato, Cinematography by Andrew Russo, Music by Ben Romans, Co-Produced by Carlin Daley and Eve Marsonall & all the dancers, production team, composer, makeup artists, and post production team donated their time and were not paid for this production. The video shows the dancers using themselves as a human piano and it is extremely well done. When I asked Wendy Jones one of the dancers, what made her want to be a part of this she said? “Simple, It’s for a “Great Company and an even greater cause”.

I don't know if any of the readers out there know this about the company but when you buy a pair of TOM’s shoes, they donate the same pair you buy to a child in need somewhere else in the world. I wonder what would happen if more companies would take this “Pay It Forward” stance in business and it became less about dollars and more about sensibility. I mean really, think about it, how that would massively impact the world as a whole? If you can imagine this, then take the next step and do it. Because in my opinion it’s the people that give that get the most benefit from the random acts of kindness. The receivers are merely relieved that someone actually cares about what they’re going through enough to make a move and do something about it. So I have been thinking, why not tell everyone out there about what this company is doing and how they can get involved and help.

OLD SCHOOL GROOVE starts Monday April 25th 8pm!

Sara's OLD SCHOOL GROOVE Cardio Dance Class
Click on the link and "like" the page to stay updated on class info

1st class is Monday April 25
8-9pm
at Moore Dancing
11948 San Vicente Blvd.

Q: What is an Old School Groove Class?
A: Picture a dance oriented fitness class where the music is hip hop and R&B from the 80s and 90s. It's an easy to follow "all levels" class designed with the dancer and non-dancer in mind.

Q: What do you mean by "Old School"?
A: I love hip hop from the late 80s and early 90s especially New Jack Swing (think Bel Biv Devoe, Bobby Brown, Wreckx in Effect, early TLC) so there will be a lot of that, but I also will dabble in some more underground stuff (think De La Soul , Pete Rock & CL Smooth) as well as really mainstream pop (think New Kids, Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul).

Q: You're a professional break dancer, is this a break dancing class?
A: No. I do teach breaking, but not in this class.

Q: I'm not really good at choreography, should I still come?
A: Yes. more than half the class is follow-along style so you don't have to worry about remembering steps, but instead concentrate on moving your body and having fun.

Q: I'm a professional dancer, will I be bored?
A: Only if you don't like dancing/having fun.

Q: I'm confused, is it a workout or a dance class?
A: Both. We will spend some time stretching and strengthening but most of the time we'll be keeping our heart-rates up dancing to the beat.

Shawshank (Starbucks) Redemption

Morgan Freeman smiled at me on my way into Starbucks.
I decided I was going to go talk to him.
As I approached him he was talking on the phone with his back turned.
As he turned around, I started to blurt out "I'm a big fan-" and promptly realized

oh wait, you're not Morgan Freeman.

So I said "of your outfit".

Ok, maybe not the best "save"...
BUT he was a really snappily dressed older gentleman.

He smiled and said "Thank you".

I quickened my gait and hurried to my car.

How did that happen?

So, the layout of my blog went from being something I felt really good about to looking like someone's unfortunate attempt at a Myspace profile. Revisions needed STAT.
